Immunities are fine if the game encourages you to use more than one element. The skill tree heavily penalizes you for putting points into more than one element as well. IMHO I dont like the way immunities work in D2, punishing players for specializing in one element and taking advantage of equipment/skill synergies never made sense to me. What's to stop people from respeccing to deal with inmunjties?īecause doing it everytime you run into a champion/unique with immunities on Hell is a huge pain in the ass? Not to mention that your equipment would be synergized for your main element, so you would still be less effective after respecing. I am fine with infinite and free respecs, I just wouldn't use it all the time because it's freaking annoying and you just gotta remember that sometimes you don't have to kill everything in sight. This is why I never played PoE for more than a few leagues, and why I keep going back to D3 time and time again, but on D2 I am perfectly fine with taking shortcuts if it means it removes my frustrations out of it, which is why I play D2 exclusively on SP with PlugY. I am going to get shredded for this, but infinite respecs is why Diablo 3 is the only ARPG I have played so far that I actually got to experiment with different skills and runes so I can play the game to my style.Īll other ARPGs that don't have easy respecs forces me to read up on builds before committing to play the game because I don't like wasting time replaying game content I have already seen before because my build doesn't work in hell, as forced replays completely kills experimentation, and I cannot adapt my builds to items I find as easily as I could in Diablo 3.Ī lot of posters say about the way you build a character is what makes the game great, if this was 10 years ago I would have agreed, but nowadays I no longer have the patience to replay a game several times because I didn't do my homework beforehand, which kills the fun of experimentation: the cost of such experimentation is I have to replay hours of game time.
